Diablo 4 How to Initiate the Vulnerable Status Effect.jpg

Vulnerable is a status effect in Diablo 4 that makes a target take more damage from all sources. It increases the damage taken by 20% for a certain duration. If you're like most players, you likely assumed that Vulnerable works much the same way it does in other games, but that's not quite true. So, how can each class initiate a Vulnerable status effect on enemies? Let's take a look at each class's guaranteed Vulnerable initiators.

Important Note: All this info comes from U4gm. You can discover more valuable insights and expert tips here that have the potential to revolutionize your Diablo 4 gaming experience. Also, U4gm offers Diablo IV Items For Sale - Choose any items on any server – after checkout, they will be delivered to you within 10 minutes.

Barbarian

Double Swing with Violent Double Swing makes enemies Vulnerable for 1 second.
Kick with Enhanced Kick makes enemies Vulnerable for 4 seconds.
Charge with Mighty Charge makes enemies Vulnerable for 2 seconds.
Steel Grasp with Enhanced Steel Grasp makes enemies Vulnerable for 2.5 seconds.

While many of these Skills offer a very short Vulnerable duration, the status effect can be extended by incorporating Rend with Enhanced Rend, in order to extend the Vulnerable status effect by 2 seconds until one of the other initiator skills comes off of cooldown.

Druid

Cyclone Armor with Innate Cycline Armor makes enemies who are knocked back Vulnerable for 3 seconds.
Ravens with Ferocious Ravens makes enemies inside the swarm Vulnerable for 3 seconds.
Cataclysm with Supreme Cataclysm makes enemies Vulnerable for 2 seconds.

Since all of these options have very long Cooldowns, it might be best for a Druid who is interested in creating a Vulnerable build to select Storm Strike with Fierce Storm Strike as their Basic Skill. While this is not a guaranteed source of Vulnerable, it does have a 50% chance to apply the status effect, so this might be the best option for Vulnerable uptime.

Necromancer

Bone Spear with Supernatural Bone Spear makes its first target Vulnerable for 3 seconds. With Splintering Aspect, Bone Spear can become a great way to initiate Vulnerable on multiple targets.
Bone Prison with Ghastly Bone Prison makes all enemies inside the prison Vulnerable.
Corpse Tendrils with Plagued Corpse Tendrils make enemies Vulnerable for 3 seconds.

Selecting Cold Mages from the Skeletal Mages section of the Book of the Dead can be upgraded to make enemies who are Frozen by, or damaged while Frozen by your Cold Mage's primary attack is Vulnerable for 3 seconds. Selecting Iron Golem from the Golems section of the Book of the Dead can be upgraded to make your Iron Golem's Slam attack make enemies Vulnerable for 5 seconds.

Rogue

Puncture with Fundamental Puncture makes an enemy Vulnerable for 2 seconds.
Concealment with Subverting Stealth makes enemies hit by the first attack out of Concealment Vulnerable for 6 seconds.
Shadow Imbuement with Blended Shadow Imbuement makes enemies hit by Shadow Imbuement's explosion Vulnerable for 2 seconds.

While Puncture is a great Vulnerable initiator on one enemy, combining this with Flurry with Improved Flurry and Aspect of Encircling Blades is a great way to ensure that Vulnerable gets applied to every target within melee range.

Sorcerer

Ice Shards with Destructive Ice Shards make a target hit with all five Ice Shards Vulnerable for 2 seconds.
Frost Nova with Mystical Frost Nova makes all enemies affected by Frost Nova Vulnerable for 4 seconds, or 6 seconds against Bosses.

While Sorcerers don't have many options to guarantee Vulnerable, if they are able to consistently freeze enemies, this opens up additional options with Frost Bolt with Flickering Frost Bolt and Frozen Orb with Greater Frozen Orb.

While this is not a comprehensive list of every Vulnerable-related skill or passive, we hope that this list also can help you to include the Vulnerable status effect in your character's build to increase your overall damage in Diablo 4.
