Can you remove one GPU from an 8 GPU Rig without removing the ability of the other 7 GPUs?

I have an 8 GPU rig but I want to repurpose one of the GPUs for my PC. But I want to know if I can just remove one without messing up the rest of the rig. Thanks in advance.
